Chicago-based Mead Johnson plans to build a new facility in expanding its current operations and campus in Zeeland, Michigan. The total investment, which will include a plethora of new equipment, is expected to exceed $67 million and lead to the creation of nearly 40 jobs.

The new facility will ultimately look to serve as the company's global supplier and technical center for hypoallergenic infant formulas. Currently, the Zeeland site produces hypoallergenic infant formula for the Americas and a few countries in the European Union. Operational upgrades will include a hygienic entrance for workers, spray drying capabilities and a new packaging line.

The Michigan Commission of Agriculture and Rural Development approved a Food and Agriculture Investment Fund grant of $175,000 for the project.
