BASF Closing Arkansas Factory

BASF blamed the decision on “the current competitive environment” along with decreased demand.

BASF Corporation is the second-largest producer and marketer of chemicals in North America.

The company has more than 100 sites for production and R&D in the U.S. and Canada.

BASF recently confirmed that it will close a facility in West Memphis, Arkansas, by the end of the next year.

The plant is responsible for producing wetting agents and resins used in the ink industry.

BASF blamed the decision on “the current competitive environment” along with decreased demand.

Thirty-four positions will reportedly be phased out as the facility is decommissioned.

Demolition of the facility is expected to take place in 2022.
