The Testing Series: Hospital Grade Drop Test

Experts drop a 10-pound weight and rip plugs out of hospital-rated receptacles.

In this test, we drop things. Officially, this is the Abrupt Removal Test, also known as the Hospital Grade Drop test.

Interpower’s test experts drop a 10-pound weight and rip plugs out of hospital-rated receptacles.

During emergencies, medical professionals are in a hurry and often forget to unplug equipment.

This test makes sure that no matter what, the cable won’t pull out of the plug and the conductors won’t get pulled out of the crimp.

Interpower has performed this test in its state-of-the-art test lab since 1999 to make sure that when doctors pull the plug, these machines will never lose power.

The Testing Series covers how one American manufacturer is making sure that we stay safe and our products remain powered. It features the Top 6 tests every cord should go through before it finds a mate.

The series includes exclusive footage from Interpower’s state-of-the-art facilities in Iowa, as the tests were being performed.
