Rolls-Royce has announced a £300 million (about $398 million) investment in its manufacturing and engineering facilities across the UK.
In Derby, the home of Rolls-Royce’s Civil Aerospace operations, the company is investing more than £140 million (about $186 million) on new engineering and manufacturing services facilities to enable future growth and improve the work environment for employees. In addition, investments in aftermarket support will increase capacity and improve operational efficiency. The works are expected to be completed in 2028.
In Bristol, the home of UK military power and propulsion, Rolls-Royce is investing over £90 million (about $119 million) on a major facility upgrade program to enhance operational delivery, digital security and program output for customers. It will support the more than 3,500 employees based at the site, including highly skilled engineers and will be completed in 2031. The investment will deliver new collaborative workspaces, enhanced IT infrastructure, and increase Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) capability.
In addition, Rolls-Royce is strengthening its advanced manufacturing capabilities across other sites in the UK.
An investment of £43 million (about $57 million) at Inchinnan, Glasgow, is introducing machinery that will enable new engine components to be manufactured. In Rotherham, Rolls-Royce is investing £19 million (about $25 million) at its Advanced Blade Casting Facility. Supported by a further £2 million (about $2.6 million) from the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, the Rotherham program will increase the facility’s capability and productivity, doubling its output of advanced turbine blades – a critical component in jet engines – by 2030. In Ansty, Warwickshire, a £5 million (about $6.6 million) investment in machinery upgrades will enhance manufacturing capability and efficiency.
