Lumber Producer Rebuilding Sawmill After Fire

C&C Forest Products announced a $21 million investment to rebuild its sawmill in Coushatta, Louisiana, that caught fire in February 2025. The producer of southern yellow pine lumber expects to complete construction this year, with the facility anticipated to begin sales in the first quarter of 2027.

The project aims to create 77 direct jobs, retain 27 positions and generate an additional 256 indirect jobs.

The company plans to reconfigure the existing facility at with updated equipment and improved site layout. Once complete, the rebuilt sawmill will focus on specialty lumber and timbers and will reportedly be capable of producing up to 90 million board feet annually.

C&C operates sawmills in Louisiana and Arkansas, with Coushatta serving as a key location in its manufacturing network. 

To secure the project in Coushatta, the state of Louisiana offered C&C FP Holdings, LLC a competitive incentives package that includes the comprehensive workforce development solutions of LED FastStart and a $1 million performance-based grant for utility and infrastructure improvements. The company is also expected to participate in Louisiana’s Quality Jobs and Industrial Tax Exemption programs.
