Polaris to 'Repurpose' Plant, Cut 275+ Jobs

The company says the changes will consolidate production of like products and better leverage plant capacity.

In a press release published Monday on its website, Polaris Industries announced that it would discontinue manufacturing at its Milford, IA plant in order to consolidate production of like products and better leverage plant capacity.

The Milford plant will be “repurposed” as a warehouse to support the nearby Spirit Lake, IA, Polaris plant, which will continue to manufacture Indian Motorcycle products. Production duties will be transferred to existing plants in Huntsville, AL; Roseau, MN and Anaheim, CA.

The company will also transfer metal fabrication operations for its Pro Armor aftermarket products from its facility in Riverside, CA, to its recently acquired Transamerican Auto Parts facility in Chula Vista, CA.

The company says approximately 390 jobs will be impacted. According to the company, “Polaris is offering the opportunity for Milford and Riverside employees to relocate within its network, as well as providing resources including separation pay, assistance with health insurance coverage, and outplacement services.”

Local news station KTIV News 4 is reporting that the end result will be 275-300 people losing their jobs.
