Great Lakes Cheese, which operates eight facilities and employs over 3,000 workers in the U.S., recently broke ground on an expansion of their Hiram, Ohio facility. The project will double the size of the 300,000 square foot plant in accommodating a new corporate headquarters. It already employs over 750 workers.

The company’s roots go back to 1958 in Cleveland. Since its founding by Swiss immigrants the cheese processor and packaging company has become one the most prominent manufacturers of its kind in the world. The expansion represents the largest capital investment in the company’s history.
