Minnesota-based pillow manufacturer, MyPillow, has fallen on hard times. Following claims made by company CEO Mike Lindell regarding the 2020 election, several retailers and shopping networks stopped doing business with the company, which Lindell says has led to sales falling some $100 million.
As a result, the company has enlisted JMS Auctions to unload hundreds of pieces of equipment, everything from air compressors and pallet wrappers to packaging equipment and, oddly, massage tables. And, with about six days remaining in the bidding, much of it is still going for less than $10.
MyPillow, based in Chaska, Minnesota, is cutting costs as demand has fallen and will even sublease manufacturing space. According to Lindell, after his company was forced to shift to more direct sales, the company didn't require the packaging used for traditional retail sales.
In a phone interview with the Star Tribune, Lindell called the actions against his company a "massive, massive cancellation."
Lindell and his company still face multiple lawsuits, including a $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit from Dominion Voting Systems, often the target of Lindell's ire, but the Star Tribune reports that the auction and asset sell-off are likely unrelated. However, Lindell admits that the lawsuits have hurt his business.
Still, Lindell remains optimistic and notes that everything auctioned can be replaced if sales bounce back. The company has also been able to stave off layoffs by moving idle workers to Lindell's other business interests.
