Can Maker Targets $380M Plant in Indiana

By the end of 2023, the new 862,000-square-foot plant could create 345 new jobs.

Canpack is a Krakow, Poland-based manufacturer of aluminum beverage cans, glass bottles and other food and drink packaging.

This week, the company announced plans for a new, $380 million manufacturing facility in Muncie, Indiana.

Construction is scheduled to begin later this year with operations beginning in late 2022. 

The state is offering $4.7 million in conditional tax credits, $300,000 in grants tied to job creation and $1 million in tax credits tied to capital investment, pending approval from the Indiana Economic Development Corp.

By 2025, the investment could grow to $490 million and add another 80 new jobs. 

The Muncie plant will be the company's second in the U.S. Canpack recently demolished an old factory in Olyphant, Pennsylvania to build a new 908,000-square-foot aluminum can plant that will create some 400 new jobs

The company employs approximately 8,000 people across 27 plants around the globe.
