Ford has revealed a new sales strategy that’s incorporating the biggest e-commerce seller in America.

The automaker recently announced that, starting this week, buyers can purchase pre-owned Ford vehicles on Amazon.

The Detroit Free Press has reported that the Blue Oval will enable buyers to shop on Amazon Autos and also finance and purchase a certified pre-owned Ford.

Listings will feature things like vehicle history, specs and price and can be searched on the e-commerce site by make, model, year and color.

Despite this slick process, the dealer isn’t being completely cut out of the picture: the buyer can then schedule to pick up their vehicle from a participating Ford dealer.

In fact, Ford believes that addressing key steps online can actually free up time for their dealership staff, enabling them to focus more on “experience” than paperwork.

This could take the form of more time with your sales rep talking you through the bells and whistles of vehicles that, admittedly, are becoming increasingly more technical to operate.

Currently this service is available in limited markets – just LA, Seattle and Dallas – but Ford says it expects to expand to other markets soon.

Hyundai also announced in early 2025 that it would be selling vehicles on Amazon Auto, including the option to receive a firm trade-in offer for an existing vehicle.

The automaker, at the time, stressed the benefits of transparent, haggle-free pricing and the “trusted Amazon shopping experience customers know and love.”

Perhaps the biggest benefit is simply not having to talk to anyone.
