BRUNSWICK, Maine (AP) — The federal government will send $4 million to Coastal Counties Workforce Inc. in Brunswick to recruit and train Maine residents in the information technology industry.
The money is part of $150 million that the U.S. Department of Labor is using for its "TechHire" grant program around the country.
Rep. Chellie Pingree of Maine, a Democrat, says the Coastal Counties pact is one of 39 such partnerships in the country.
The labor department says the grant will help by providing training and placement to young and underserved workers who want to get involved in Maine's information technology sector. The department says training will also provide industry-recognized credentialing for participants.
