BATON ROUGE, LA. (AP) — A Louisiana-based pipe manufacturer is expanding its operations, in a move expected to add 128 new jobs to the state's capital city.

Stupp Corp. announced the $22 million expansion plan Thursday, saying it intends to upgrade its two steel pipe manufacturing plants in Baton Rouge. The company makes custom pipe to transport oil and natural gas and other products for the industry.

Gov. John Bel Edwards' office touted the expansion news, saying the new jobs will have an average annual salary topping $60,000.

The state is giving Stupp a $500,000 grant to pay for road improvements to handle increased truck traffic and will assist with workforce training efforts. The company also will be eligible for state and local tax breaks.
