SHEBOYGAN, WIS. (AP) — Small engine manufacturer Kohler Co. is eliminating 600 jobs in Wisconsin as it transfers some of its work to Mississippi but the affected workers are getting employment elsewhere in the company.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports Kohler said in a statement it is offering "alternative jobs in Wisconsin" to impacted workers as the company closes its engine division in Sheboygan County.

Meanwhile, Kohler plans to hire 250 people over the next two years in Hattiesburg, Mississippi at a facility that will assemble gasoline-powered engines. The company is investing $15 million at the new plant.

The union that represents workers at Kohler says 280 production jobs and 320 administrative positions are being cut in Sheboygan County but no one is losing their jobs.
