The Devcon DFense Blok EZ Mix from ITW Polymers Adhesives North America (Danvers, MA) is formulated to provide the same exceptional wear and abrasion protection as original DFense Blok, but is easier to mix in colder climates. DFense Blok alumina ceramic bead-filled epoxy wearing compound is specially formulated to outperform and outlast traditional epoxy wear and abrasion products — even in the most severe impact and sliding abrasion conditions. When used with DFense Blok Surface Wetting Agent, it offers 7 times better drop impact strength over 1” ceramic tile (tested using 85 lb. weight with 0.25 sq. in. striking surface). Sliding abrasion resistance is significantly better than traditional epoxy products. DFense Blok Surface Wetting Agent is a 2-part thixotropic epoxy gel system that improves the ease of application and cured adhesion properties of DFense Blok wearing compound. Additionally, DFense Blok:
- Is ideal for repairing, rebuilding and protecting equipment subject to wear and abrasion such as pipe elbows, scrubbers, ash handling systems, cyclones, fan blades, pump boxes, float cells, screw conveyors and augers, etc.
- Can be used in place of ceramic tile and conventional epoxy systems. For areas that cannot be welded or where sufficient surface preparation cannot be performed, DFense Blok Surface Wetting Agent should be applied prior to DFense Blok Wearing Compound.
- Is available in 30-lb. pails, is mixed in a 2:1 ratio and has a working time of 25 minutes at room temperature. Non-sagging, it can be easily applied by trowel at a thickness of ½” on vertical and overhead surfaces. It achieves functional cure in only 4½ hours.
