Force Control Industries (FAIRFIELD, OH) introduces a new line of Build America, Buy America Act (BABAA) compliant thruster brakes under the brand name HYDRASTOP. These spring-set, electrohydraulic thruster-released brakes are currently available for 6–13” drums, with plans for larger sizes and a complete disc brake series.

HYDRASTOP thruster brakes are used to statically hold and/or dynamically stop loads in industrial applications such as cranes, movable bridges, conveyors, stadium covers, mining drag lines, and marine deck equipment.

  • Designed to AIST Technical Report 11.

  • Torque ratings available from 35 to 2,140 ft/lbs.

  • Sealed auto-adjustment device resists environmental damage.

  • Lubrication-free bushings in all major pivot locations.

  • Slotted arms reduce shoe drag and promote even brake pad wear.

  • Uses ester-based transformer oil suitable for sensitive environments.

  • Cast aluminum thruster housings are anodized and IP66 rated.

  • Finned housing supports radiant heat dissipation.

  • Bypass labyrinth seal minimizes internal seal wear.

  • Internal check valves enable adjustable lifting/lowering times.

  • Internal wet motor design.

  • Optional accessories include sealed auto-adjusters, thruster heaters, flow controls, corrosion-resistant hardware, limit switches, and various brake enclosures.

Meets AIST Technical Report 11 requirements and is suitable for use in applications that require environmentally conscious materials and durable, low-maintenance braking systems.
