Interface Level Switch Detects Liquids, Bulk Solids

The DJI probe, when the solid material is not covering it, is free to vibrate producing an output signal.

Dynatrol (Houston, TX) announced its Type CL-10DJI Interface Level Switch that has the unique ability to detect liquids and bulk solids. It has no moving parts, arrives for simple installation and does not require field adjustments.

Reliable operation can be achieved with this control in problem applications where the level of solid material is difficult to detect within a specified liquid.

Applications may include carbon/water interface, sand/water interface, catalyst/liquid interface, steeping processes and other selected applications including interface detection between liquids of significant viscosity differences.

The level switch is mounted through a 3/4” half-coupling at the point of desired level detection, eliminating costly flanges, float chamber or fittings.

The DJI probe, when the solid material is not covering it, is free to vibrate producing an output signal. This signal operates a relay indicating the probe is uncovered and a low level exists.

When the probe is covered with solid material a dampening of the oscillations occurs and the relay indicates that a high level exists.

EC-501A Control Unit: The On/Off signal from the Dynatrol DJI Interface Detector operates a SPDT relay in the EC-501A Control Unit. The relay contacts actuate alarms, indicator lights or process control equipment.

Dynatrol detectors are constructed for a long service life with stainless steel and Hastelloy C wetted parts.

Specialized units can be used in temperatures exceeding 300°F.
