Modern industrial manufacturing processes impose limits for remanent magnetism on components. Demagnetizers are used in various industrial applications to ensure proper operation of machines. This equipment is often exposed to harsh environments including vibration, extreme temperatures, humidity, shock (dirty power), dust/dirt, fluids, and more.
The interface is an important safety feature, because it informs machinists about the operational status of the demagnetizer.
When used in heavy-duty industrial machines, it is vital that the demagnetizer interface design be able to handle extended daily use in challenging operating conditions.
The reliable interface not only needs to be rugged enough to withstand the toughest environments, but it also needs to meet brightness requirements and feature a wide viewing angle.
The industrial environment in this application provided a unique set of challenges. In the end, the CNX718 LED panel mount indicator from VCC was specified because of the following features:
- A high-intensity LED with a 180-degree viewing angle.
- A dome-shaped clear lens.
- A front-panel mount.
- .187" tab terminals or 6" wire leads.
- 4 voltage configurations: 5, 12, or 28 VDC, and 120 VAC.
The CNX718 can also be easily viewed to ensure machine operators are quickly and properly informed of any changes with the operational status of the demagnetizer.
Machinists now have better control of the system, and can ensure proper performance and increased safety.
