Interpower has increased production of electrical cords and cord sets used on medical equipment — ventilators, in particular.
According to a local news report, the Iowa-based manufacturer recently noticed an uptick in orders.
Three weeks ago, Interpower received an order for 1,000 ventilator cords; company president Bob Wersen knew it was time to ramp up production.
Mike Boyle, vice president of manufacturing and logistics, says Interpower’s facility in Lamoni, Iowa, experienced a 350% increase in production from March 15-31.
According to Wersen, cord-set demand for medical equipment has continued to increase dramatically through April.
"Most, but not all of the cords [are] for use on ventilators," said Wersen. ”Our employees are very pleased to be able to make a contribution to providing equipment that helps save lives of people who come down with the coronavirus and who need the services of a ventilator.”
Interpower has been making cords for medical applications for the better part of 20 years.
