Fish Cakes Recalled Due to Multiple Allergens

A Canadian inspection agency detected the Japanese manufacturer's mistake for products sold in the U.S.

Product Recall

Wismettac Asian Foods is issuing a voluntary recall for eight types of Shirakiku brand imported fish cake products because they contain allergens that include milk, egg and shellfish. These ingredients pose a significant risk of allergic reaction. The product was distributed to retail stores in 37 states and Washington, D.C.

The recall was initiated after testing conducted by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency discovered the presence of these ingredients in the cakes, but failed to list them on the product label. The manufacturer in Kagoshima, Japan has been made aware of the issue and is conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the issue.
