Elon Musk says Tesla is “in the final lap” regarding the development of its long-delayed Cybertruck.
The prototype, first unveiled in 2019, is an all-electric pickup with a unique, angular style.
At the time, Tesla said it would begin mass production on the vehicle in 2021 and it would be priced under $40,000.
Since then, the Cybertruck has encountered several delays, including those related to pandemic disruptions.
Last month, Musk said Tesla was preparing its Austin, Texas plant for early production related to the truck.
More recently, sources have confirmed to Reuters that the automaker “aims to start mass production” … “at the end of 2023.”
There are reportedly thousands of reservations on the books for the Cybertruck, though interested parties only needed to place a $100 deposit.
Experts believe that it's likely the $40,000 price tag will increase, perhaps significantly, as auto prices have skyrocketed since the initial announcement.
