Chocolate Bunnies Ordered to Be Destroyed in Copycat Case

The chocolatier has nixed another knockoff.

Swiss chocolatier Lindt has prevailed in a legal battle over its famous foil-wrapped chocolate bunnies.

A court has ruled that Lindt’s Gold Bunny treats were likely to be confused with knockoffs being sold by German discount retailer, Lidl.

The Swiss court says Lidl must stop selling the confections and also destroy their remaining stock.

They even suggest that the stock could be melted down and reused for some other purpose.

According to The Guardian, Lindt has defended the Gold Bunny’s trademark in the past.

Various rulings have protected its 3-dimensional shape, as well as the gold foil it’s wrapped in.
