Jergens Lotion Recalled for Possible Bacteria

Jergens Ultra Healing brand accounts for 22.2 percent of US lotion purchases.

According to 2019 sales statistics, Jergens Ultra Healing brand held 22.2 percent of US market share for lotion purchases.

But the popular brand of moisturizer has recently been recalled for potentially dangerous contamination.

According to reports, certain size bottles of the formula may contain the bacteria pluralibacter gergoviae.

Manufacturer Kao USA announced the voluntary recall earlier this month via the FDA.

The agency says the bacterium typically poses little medical risk to healthy people, but can sicken those who are immunocompromised.

Kao USA is urging consumers to discontinue use of the recalled lotion, with lot codes detailed in the FDA’s press release.

CNN Business recently pointed out that other products, including Cottonelle Flushable Wipes, have also been recalled in recent months.

They were thought to harbor the same bacteria.
