Toyota Investing $240M for Hybrid Transaxles

It's part of Toyota's plan to offer electrified options in its lineup by 2025.

Toyota announced it will invest $240 million to build hybrid transaxles.

Toyota revealed the news at its West Virginia engine and transmission plant, where the production line will be added.

The development is intended to help Toyota offer electrified options in its lineup of Toyota and Lexus vehicles by 2025.

At the same event, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin voiced his opposition to a proposed provision to grant a $4,500 federal tax credit for union-made electric vehicles.

The proposal is a part of President Biden’s $1.75 trillion Build Back Better Act.

Manchin called the provision β€œwrong” and β€œnot American.”

Toyota made its stance on the proposal known with ads that encouraged Americans to ask members of Congress to apply the tax incentive to all EVs assembled by U.S. auto workers.
