Amazon Appealing to Marijuana Users to Fill Positions

Amazon claims a change in job screenings could increase applicants by as much as 400%.

Amazon needs delivery drivers, and wants its delivery partners to amend their application requirements.

The company advised its delivery partners to tell job-seekers that, to a large extent, they do not screen for marijuana use, according to Bloomberg.

Amazon claims this could increase job applicants by as much as 400%, although it did not provide a statistical path to that figure.

The multinational conglomerate also said screening for marijuana eliminates up to 30% of the worker pool.

Delivery partners had mixed responses, with one saying marijuana was often a reason drug tests were failed.

Another wants to continue screening for marijuana, citing potential insurance and liability issues where marijuana is illegal.

Amazon announced in June that it would cease marijuana screening.
