Three companies have come together to build a $40 million factory in North Alabama to supply steel parts to auto manufacturers.
The factory is the product of Toyota Tsusho America Inc., Southern Mobility Products and SteelSummit Holdings.
According to the Associated Press and first reported by AL.com, Madison Metal Processing will provide steel components for Mazda Toyota Manufacturing in Huntsville later this year.
The factory is expected to hire approximately 40 workers.
Full production is scheduled for the middle of 2022.
Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey described the factory as “another exciting development in the growth of the robust supplier network emerging in North Alabama.”
Mazda and Toyota recently announced that the Huntsville plant will produce the Toyota Corolla Cross. An announcement on the production of a Mazda vehicle will come later this year.
