SpaceX received a warning from the Federal Aviation Administration that its new rocket assembly tower might be ordered to be taken down.
The Starship-Super Heavy system is at Boca Chica, Texas, but its environmental review is incomplete, Reuters reported.
The review must be completed before SpaceX can get a launch license for the site.
Since the review is still in progress, SpaceX is “building the tower at its own risk” an FAA spokesman told Business Insider.
According to Reuters, SpaceX told the FAA the review was unnecessary because the integration tower is not for licensed or permitted launches.
The FAA cited a SpaceX document which said the towers would integrate the Starship-Super Heavy launch vehicle.
SpaceX claims it would be used for “production, research and development purposes.”
SpaceX president Gwynne Shotwell said in June that the company was aiming for a Starship rocket launch in July.
