According to a lawsuit, about 150 North Pacific Seafoods employees have been forced into quarantine after three workers tested positive for coronavirus.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the seasonal employees were headed to the company's Red Salmon Cannery in Alaska, but they never made it.
North Pacific Seafoods says any worker headed to its seafood processing plant must undergo state-mandated testing and a 14-day controlled quarantine.
The company hired the seasonal staff on June 2, and sent them to the Crowne Plaza LAX Hotel in Las Angeles for testing on June 10.
After the positive tests, the workers' quarantine was extended until June 25, without pay.
According to the lawsuit, the hotel deactivated room keys, and employees were threatened with immediate dismissal if they left their rooms.
Most of the workers are from Southern California and Mexico, and their attorney says the company wouldn't promise transportation home if the employees left the hotel.
They did, however, promise to provide a snack every third day to cheer the workers up.
