Pandemic Leads Manufacturer to Create Permanent Spin-Off

The company recently announced plans to transition its core focus to personal safety equipment.

For more than 25 years, Montgomeryville, Penn.-based Timberlane Inc. has produced custom window shutters and hardware.

While that remains a key element of the business, the company recently announced plans to transition its core focus to personal safety equipment.

In early March, the company hired more than 300 temporary workers that ended up producing over 1 million face shields to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

That initial need has expanded since more and more businesses have begun to re-open, and has actually spawned a spinoff company: Red Cape Essentials.

Red Cape Essentials will leverage Timberlane’s production expertise to produce face and intubation shields, protective barriers and other social distancing products.

The company will operate out of a new 30,000 square-foot facility housing up to 75 full-time employees.

Targeted customers will include offices, schools, restaurants, manufacturing, transportation and retail.
