A worker at an Ingham's poultry processing facility in Australia was severely injured last week after his leg was ripped off in an industrial accident.
The incident happened Wednesday morning in a town southwest of Sydney.
According to local authorities, the 35-year-old worker's leg was caught and stuck in a piece of machinery that he was operating. His leg was reportedly amputated at the knee.
Emergency personnel removed him from the machine and flew him to a hospital for treatment.
The Ingham's facility processes turkey.
The company is one of the largest poultry producers in Australia and New Zealand. According to the company’s website, it operates 345 facilities and farms across Australia and New Zealand.
The company provided counseling for workers and is cooperating with the investigation.
