In August 2018, a female employee at Howard Precision was severely injured in an industrial accident after she became entangled in a piece of machine shop equipment.
The worker suffered a traumatic amputation of her lower left forearm, and the local OSHA office opened an investigation on the same day.
The investigation was closed on January 1st and this week, according to the Union Leader, OSHA announced that it found no violations at the Gilford, NH-based business.
As a result, Howard Precision received no citations or proposed penalties.
At the time of the incident, the worker was transported to the hospital by ambulance with the severed part of her arm wrapped in cool moist cloth. She was then airlifted to a medical center in Boston.
According to the Laconia Daily Sun, her coworkers stepped in and helped control the bleeding until emergency personnel arrived.
At the time, Howard Precision owner Joe Howard said it was "the hardest day I’ve ever worked in my life."
In 2017, OSHA recognized Howard Precision for its efforts to improve employee safety after an employee injured his thumb on a bandsaw in 2015.
According to the company's website, the company specializes in machining, welding and fabricating sanitary fittings, tubes and piping for multiple industries, such marine, defense, pharmaceutical and food/beverage.
