Oshkosh Defense said it has begun production of its first Dutch Expeditionary Patrol Vehicle (DXPV) prototype, also known as the “Kaaiman,” for the Netherlands Ministry of Defence (MoD).
Derived from the Oshkosh JLTV, the DXPV incorporates enhancements designed to address evolving expeditionary and littoral mission requirements.
"The start of DXPV prototype production is an important step in delivering next-generation capability to the Netherlands," said Jeff Heggemeier, vice president and general manager of Oshkosh Defense, in a statement. "Just as importantly, it demonstrates the strength of an active production base and our ability to continuously evolve proven vehicle technologies to address the changing needs of our customers and their missions."
Enhancements including improved mobility, corrosion protection optimized for maritime environments, modular protection options, environmental upgrades, integrated mission systems and suspension improvements that increase off-road performance and operational flexibility.
Produced on Oshkosh Defense's active production line, the DXPV demonstrates the company's ability to rapidly deliver customer-driven capability with a modular architecture that supports future upgrades and mission-specific configurations. The same production operations are also supporting the manufacture of JLTV-based Counter-Unmanned Aircraft System (C-UAS) vehicles to meet an urgent customer need.
As allied nations continue to modernize their fleets, the DXPV demonstrates how Oshkosh Defense can evolve trusted platforms like the JLTV to meet changing operational requirements while reducing development timelines and lifecycle risk. The program reflects Oshkosh Defense’s ability to transition efficiently from development to production. This approach enables customers to field new capabilities while preserving the reliability and performance of a platform already proven in service.
