Australian packaging supplier Detpak announced that it opened a multi-million-dollar manufacturing facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The location plans to provide paper-based packaging solutions for Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) and foodservice operators, including McDonald's, KFC, Starbucks and Wendy's.

Detpak stated that the 175,000-square-foot site would initially employ over 50 people. The company expects the factory to begin production in August, following equipment commissioning.

"[The South Carolina facility] allows us to better support our customers with locally manufactured products and reinforces our commitment to the U.S. market, where we have been supplying customers from our international plants for over 20 years," CEO Sascha Detmold Cox said.

Detpak operates in 45 countries and owns manufacturing facilities in eight countries.
