Empower Semiconductor announced an expansion of its global operations with the opening of a new headquarters in Milpitas, California, and the establishment of a research and development center in Munich, Germany.

Empower specializes in high-density and high-bandwidth power solutions for next-generation AI and high-performance computing architectures. The company expects the expansions to accelerate its technology and support an increase in customer demand.

The new headquarters will enable growth in R&D, applications, product engineering and reliability teams. The company purpose-built the space to support rapid development of its next-generation vertical power-delivery platforms and derivatives. In parallel, the Munich site will serve as a regional innovation hub.

"The successful introduction of our industry-leading AI vertical power platform, known as Crescendo, has necessitated the scaling up of our engineering and manufacturing capacity,” CEO Empower Semiconductor Tim Phillips said.

Trey Roessig, Empower's CTO and senior vice president of engineering, added that the projects would shorten the company's development cycles while broadening its portfolio.
