VICKSBURG, MISS. (AP) — A liquid fertilizer manufacturer says it will invest $20 million to expand its Mississippi plant and hire 20 new employees over the next two to three years.

Vicksburg Plant Food says it has won a new contract and is responding to increased customer demand.

Mississippi Development Authority spokeswoman Tammy Craft says the state is providing $100,000 to the company for site work. Vicksburg Plant Food says it plans two new liquid tanks.

The company has four employees now and has operated in Vicksburg since 1989, shipping fertilizer by barge to Mississippi, Louisiana and other states.

Craft says local governments are not providing grants, but the company could seek future property tax relief later.

Workers will be paid more than $60,000 a year, on average.
