The BMW Group is investing €200 million ($232,790,000) in its plant in Leipzig, eastern Germany.

The building work will begin in early 2018 and include an extension of the paint shop and alterations to the bodyshop and assembly areas.

The work is scheduled to finish in 2020, with the facilities being put to use immediately.

This move will make sure that Plant Leipzig is prepared for the production of future BMW model generations.

In addition to increased production flexibility, the extension of Plant Leipzig also lays the foundations for a possible future growth in volume.

The central element is the extension of the paint shop, including the integration of the newest paint technologies, which will set new standards in efficiency and sustainability.
