Non-Contacting Magnetic Sensors

The MB1-3600 Series is an economical alternative to geared and optical encoders.

Novotechnik U.S. (Southborough, MA) announces the MB1-3600 Series of non-contacting multi-turn magnetic sensors for industrial and mobile machinery, including a heavy-duty model. The sensors measure up to 44 turns, or 15,840 degrees, and continue counting turns while unpowered. They maintain position accuracy, retain the position value for years, and report it when power is restored.

The MB1-3600 Series is an economical alternative to geared and optical encoders. Its magnetic design has no gears, optics, or batteries, and it is available in solid-shaft and hollow-shaft versions. A heavy-duty model is available for applications with higher shaft loads.

Applications include mechanical engineering, mobile machinery, driveline and steering systems, wire-actuated encoders, gate drives, and motorsports. Depending on configuration, output options include IO-Link, CANopen, and CAN SAE J1939.
