2 Flute Double Margin Diamond-Coated Drill

A cost-effective alternative between standard carbide and PCD, helping to reduce tooling costs.

Exactaform

The UK’s largest manufacturer of PCD tooling, Exactaform (Coventry, UK), has expanded its Aero-CARB tooling portfolio with the launch of a new 2 Flute Double Margin Diamond-Coated Drill, providing aerospace manufacturers with an additional tooling option for abrasive drilling applications.

Designed for materials including CFRP, graphite and aluminium silicon alloys, the new drill combines a double margin geometry with CVD diamond coating to support cleaner, more consistent hole quality while delivering improved wear resistance in demanding machining environments.

Available in metric sizes from Ø3.00 mm to Ø12.00 mm, the new drill has been developed for applications where standard carbide tooling may struggle to deliver the required tool life or process consistency. The double margin design provides additional guidance through the hole, helping improve stability and hole quality, while the diamond coating protects the cutting edge against abrasive wear.

The launch forms part of Exactaform's continued investment in its Aero-CARB range, developed to provide manufacturers with a broader spectrum of tooling solutions between conventional carbide and premium PCD tooling. The new addition strengthens the Aero-CARB portfolio, which includes diamond-coated solutions for drilling, rough and finish milling and surface contour machining applications across advanced composite and abrasive material machining.
