In 1948 Liberty Reid was an office manager and purchasing agent in a local tool and die shop. He discovered there were numerous tools and parts that he could not obtain in a timely manner. This discovery inspired him to start Reid Tool Supply as a small business in his home, with the help of his wife, Gloria.
Mr. Reid's vision was to have those hard-to-get tools and parts in inventory for immediate delivery. He lined up suppliers and published a 16-page catalog, which was mailed to 5,000 machine shops in the Midwest. From the very beginning, Reid Tool Supply focused on great customer service by providing hard-to-find merchandise on a timely basis.
By 1952 the business had long outgrown the Reid's house and moved into a newly constructed 40' x 40' warehouse/office on W. Delano Ave. Over the years the business has acquired several more facilities to accommodate its growing business.
Throughout the years Reid Tool Supply established and acquired several more businesses as opportunity presented itself. Along with Reid Tool Supply, these additional businesses would become the core of Reid Entities. In 2005, Reid Tool Supply changed its name to Reid Supply Company to reflect its expanded offerings and wider industrial supply focus.
Today, Reid Supply Company serves our customers needs from warehouses in Michigan and Indiana.
