Creform Corporation (Greer, SC) has designed and produced a fleet of simple, but effective picking shelf carts for a distributor’s use to better manage parts and supplies for work-in-process. The distributor and Creform collaborated on the most effective design to best make use of form, fit and function. Further, subsequent iterations of the design provided improvements each time to arrive at the most functional cart. Specifically:
The cart features five horizontal shelves that are easily repositioned and reconfigured if need be.
Each shelf features a retaining lip on three sides to help ensure that no ‘picked’ product falls off the shelf.
The shelves feature plastic surfaces that provide the correct balance between light weight and strength and since the cart will be pushed all day every day, it was important to keep its weight as low as possible while maintaining the necessary strength and durability.
Further, the cart’s open design of the pipe/joint structure lets the user see through the structure for safe operation.
