In an ideal world, lift tables would always have their loads centered on the platform, but in reality this is not always possible. Off center loads can place excessive stress and wear on every moving part of the lift. In the past the only way to handle an off-center load was to add a counterweight to the opposite side of the lift.
Advance Lifts (St. Charles, IL) recognized that counterbalancing for a small weight difference is often a problem, yet the need is great enough that something should be done. With this in mind, the Engineers at Advance Lifts invented and patented the Platform Centering Device. This simple yet highly effective device helps keep the lift platform and scissors legs in alignment during operation, which dramatically reduces the wear seen under moderate, off center loading conditions. During the testing stages, Advance Lifts engineers determined that lifts with the centering devices installed lasted 2-3 times longer than units without, depending on the severity of the off-center load.
