Danfoss' Editron ED3 Onboard Charger.
Danfoss
Danfoss Power Solutions announces the production launch of the Editron ED3 onboard charger and electric power take-off (ePTO).
The Editron ED3 is designed to enable AC-based charging and power delivery in electric heavy-duty machinery, supporting both on-highway and off-highway applications.
Features & Benefits:
- Provides up to 44 kW of AC charging power to high-voltage batteries.
- Combines three functions in a single unit: AC charger, DC ePTO, and AC ePTO.
- Reduces machine downtime by halving typical AC charging time compared to standard 22 kW onboard chargers.
- Enables overnight and opportunity charging using standard AC charging infrastructure.
- Supplies up to 44 kW of DC power to high-voltage auxiliaries (compressors, pumps, motor controllers).
- Delivers up to 43.6 kVA of single- or three-phase AC output to support plug-in functions or microgrids.
- Reduces vehicle system complexity through compact, multifunctional design.
- Frees chassis space by decoupling auxiliary functions from the vehicle driveline.
- Reduces mechanical losses compared to traditional PTOs.
- Allows component standardization across different vehicle platforms.
- Minimizes cable count and high-voltage component requirements, offering space, weight, and cost savings.
- Supports a wide range of grid voltages for global applicability.
Standardized for both on-highway and off-highway use; suitable for medium- and heavy-duty trucks, as well as electric construction and agricultural equipment where DC charging is limited or unavailable.
