Pyro-Paint 634-SIC is a new high temperature, silicon carbide based, oxidation resistant coating developed by Aremco Products, Inc. (Valley Cottage, NY), now used to reduce oxidation in graphite foam and other graphite structures used in applications to 2,550 degrees F. According to the company, this new coating significantly extends the useful life of graphite and carbon components, resulting in a dramatic reduction in operating costs. Pyro-Paint 634-SIC is a single part, 75% solids, non-volatile material that is applied easily using a paintbrush, roller, dip process or spray equipment. It dries quickly at room temperature within one hour and cures by heating to 200 and 500 ºF for two hours each, respectively.
