Saab Underwater Work Vehicle Joins Armada Fleet

The deal is the largest in the company's history.

On Nov. 15, Saab Seaeye agreed to sell 10 electric work remotely operated vehicles (eWROV) to Ocean Infinity, a marine robotics company.

The deal is the largest in the Saab subsidiary's history as demand for intelligent, adaptable and flexible underwater robots has increased.

Saab's eWROV has been in the R&D phase for about four years.

The electric work-class vehicle can deliver the same performance as a 250 horsepower hydraulic vehicle.

The eWROV's electric systems use little oil and the vehicle is also capable of fully autonomous operation.

Ocean Infinity plans to build Armada, the largest fleet of uncrewed robotic vessels in the world.

Armada's fleet has been used on everything from infrastructure integrity projects to recovery missions.

The fleet even assisted in the recovery of the USS Nevada, one of the longest serving battleships in U.S. Navy history.
