Addionics introduced its Battery Architecture for Low-Temperature Performance for cold-weather electrified systems. The new smart battery architecture is designed for increasing low-temperature battery operations, enhancing charging capabilities, extending mission range and reducing heating hardware requirements. It can be used in electric vehicles, electric trucks, defense drones, space applications and electric aviation.

Features:

  • Porous metal structure that allows electrolyte and lithium ions to move directly through current collector plane, creating additional electrode access pathways
  • Shortens ion and electron transport paths across electrode volume to improve active-material accessibility and distribute electrochemical activity evenly
  • Retains higher power, usable energy and capacity when temperatures drop, addressing range loss in cold weather
  • Enables improved charging capabilities and faster power uptake in cold conditions without requiring severe thermal pre-conditioning
  • Minimizes need for dedicated battery heating energy and thermal management hardware, optimizing overall system mass and payload capacity
