Dust Collector for Food Processing

Tri-Mer's MCD Whirl Wet efficiently isolates food particulate 1+ microns and larger.

OWOSSO, MI — The MCD Whirl Wet dust collector from Tri-Mer Corp. is a modular conveyor drag-out system that was engineered for facilities with high dust loadings, or that operate continuously.

MCD Whirl Wet efficiently isolates food particulate 1+ microns and larger. When collected dust reaches a set point, the collection module is dragged out and replaced with an empty collection module, allowing operation (as well as routine maintenance) to continue free of interruption.

OSHA and NFPA mandates regarding explosive dust emissions have revived interest in wet collection technology. The Tri-Mer Whirl Wet dust collector is a proven, practical answer for collecting virtually all dusts over 1 micron, whether or not the dusts are volatile.

The original Whirl Wet was manufactured in 100% polypropylene and has been installed in food and beverage processing facilities throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia. It is widely used to collect dusts from sugar processing, cereal manufacturing, breading and spice blending, and by manufacturers of cosmetics.

The new system is ideal for applications that require stainless steel construction and zero-shut-down performance.

The Whirl Wet is 95-99% efficient for soluble and insoluble particulate. Energy generated inside the unit will not allow the system to clog under any operating  conditions, therefore, the agglomeration and sticky residues that are common with dry collectors are not an issue for the Whirl/Wet.

The system is also unique in that it does not use “high-maintenance” components, such as spray nozzles, pumps and dust bags - or air compressors. Instead, the Whirl/Wet uses a unique process to create intense mixing of dust particles and water.

Whirl Wet dust MCDs have no internal moving parts, are self-cleaning and highly energy-efficient. Water use is low: following an initial charge, water additions are  only needed to compensate for evaporation and drag-out.

The MCD Whirl Wet is manufactured in the US, in capacities from 1000 to 60,000 cfm.
