Less than one week after issuing a recall of its Organic Sunflower Butter, Warren, Michigan-based Inspired Organics has issued another voluntary recall, but this time for its Organic Almond Butter. The cause of the recall is the same as the previous announcement - potential contamination from Listeria monocytogenes.
The product was distributed exclusively by Lipari Foods to food service and retail stores throughout Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
The contamination was found after product testing initiated by Inspired Organics. The company is working with the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) and the FDA to understand the cause of the situation and ensure that all affected product has been removed from retail and online stores. No illnesses have been reported to date.
