Kroger, one of America's largest grocery retailers, and robotics company Nuro will launch an autonomous grocery delivery service from two stores in Houston later this spring. The companies previously operated a pilot program in Scottsdale, Arizona, but Houston marks the first public use of the self-driving fleet.
The service will start with Nuro's manual and self-driving Toyota Prius fleet, with the next generation of custom vehicles coming later in 2019. The service will be available every day, with customers placing orders on Kroger's website, or via an app. Deliveries can be scheduled for same-day or next-day delivery for a fee of $5.95. No minimum order will be required.
