Doors

Description

Doors are movable panels/structures that move back and forth on hinges and are used to close off an access or an entrance. Components of door include lintels, jambs, door casing, door stop, sill, panels, rails, and handle or latch/locks/tower bolts. Doors are made of different materials such as steel, aluminum, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), plastics, wood veneer, plywood, glass, fiberglass, etc. Latches, locks, tower bolts are fitted to doors to ensure safety. A wide range of doors are available to suit any purpose and environment.

Types

Based on the mechanism, doors are classified as given below:

• Sliding doors - Doors that slide along the trails; used for aesthetic reasons; some of the examples include bypass doors, pocket doors, etc.
• Folding doors - Consists of even sections that are folded in pairs
• Hinged doors - Doors are pivoted along one side to turn (about a vertical axis) in one direction; some hinged doors can turn on a horizontal axis of rotation
• Rotating or revolving doors - Consists of wings that turn around one way about a vertical alignment
