Cabinets
Description
A cabinet is furniture, usually box shaped, which is used for storing a number of miscellaneous items. A cabinet is available either as a stand alone model or can be built into or fixed to a wall. A cabinet generally has one or more access doors, shelves, drawers, hinges, handles, and in some cases may also have a locking facility. A cabinet is made of wood, steel, plastic, glass, fiberboard, composite, fiberglas, or synthetic materials.
Types
The commonly used types of cabinets are
Storage cabinets: includes bathroom cabinets, kitchen cabinets, garage cabinets, etc. which are available in various sizes and shapes for safe storage of house hold items
Wardrobe cabinets: cabinets meant for storing clothes and apparels
Wall-mounted cabinets: cabinets which are hung from or fixed to a wall for storing display items
Medical storage cabinets: cabinets, made of stainless steel, to store medicines and pharmaceuticals
Office / Industrial cabinets: covers filing cabinets, pedestals, bookcases and lockers for storage in office and industrial items
Biological safety cabinets: cabinets used in laboratories to prevent specimens from getting contaminated by biological reactions
Computer cabinets: cabinets, which are used to protect the internal parts of the computer from the environmental contaminants including dust, water, etc.
Rack cabinets: used for housing products which requires accessibility from both the front and the back sides
Applications
The following are the some of applications of specific types of cabinets:
Rack cabinets are suitable for use in hazardous or non-hazardous locations and designed for indoor or outdoor use
Biological safety cabinets are widely used in toxicology laboratories to meet varying research and clinical needs
Computer cabinets are designed to protect personal computers (PCs) in shop floor conditions and office-based applications
Medicine cabinets are designed for use in hospitals, operating rooms, and other medical or surgical facilities
Wall cabinets are used in shops, schools, churches, libraries
