Manually sorting parcels to specific zip codes is a key function at TNT, a worldwide provider of global express and logistics services. Requiring an average of 15 seconds per parcel, sorters routinely used to lift packages weighing up to 77 lb below knee and above shoulder level. Safety concerns prompted TNT to seek an ergonomic lifting device, and they found what they were looking for with Vaculex TP vacuum lifts.
Capable of handling 99% of packages with ease, Vaculex TP uses suction to grip and lift parcels of varying sizes, shapes, and weights from either side and rotate them 360 degrees to fit where needed. After the installation of several units at TNT, injuries were reduced to a minimum; productivity levels were either maintained or increased.
TNT operations manager Thomas Engman reports, "We can certify that the lifts are working even better than we had hoped for."
